Big Cities, Big Dreams

Perth, the underrated city of talent...

Pumping Blood by applesttarPumping Blood
by applesttar

Adelaide Kane, main actress in hit TV series 'Reign' is from Australia. That I knew. And that I talked about in my previous post. But. Adelaide Kane, a famous actress who starred in hit movies such as thriller 'The Purge', is a Perthian. A girl who was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, before moving to Melbourne to cast in Soap Opera: Neighbours, and then eventually moved to where she is now, LA. The city of Angels.Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

This isn't the only famous celebrity who's surprisingly a Perthian. Heath Ledger, one of Hollywood's biggest names, was born in Perth. Gemma Ward, renowned model was also born in Perth. And finally, and not exhausting the list, Hugh Jackman was once a Perthian too. Not born in Perth but his performance journey began in Perth, back in 1994.

It simply is amazing, if not inspiring, how such a small city, that has been so underrated as of late, has produced some of the greatest names. For that, I am proud to be a Perthian. And it proves that it's not only in big cities, where big dreams can come true. They can begin in a small city just like Perth, a city that didn't have Zara or Topshop until a few months ago. A small city that is only getting their first Krispy Kreme shop later this month. A small city that has not been touched by too much of outside influence.

Dream Home Inspiration

I've been gathering photos and keeping them in a file,
a collection of inspirations that hopefully I can use
to create my dream home.

Just a word of advice, prepare for SPAM.
Beautiful spam :)

Love this contemporary feel, and damn, look at that view!

Love the colours, my favourite colour! But maybe a bit too cold.

That sofa/table is so amazing! Perfect for a girls' night in!

Oh my gosh I am so in love with the colours! And that bookcase!!

That tiling is so cute as well! Such an amazing European feel~

More European inspired kitchens, just inspires you to cook amazing food!

A lot more fem.

My love for bookcases and wooden touches never ends. And that fireplace... oohhhhhh

I have just said it, my love for wooden touches, and that doesn't end with the floor. Ceiling too please!

Love Love Love, and more LOVE! That cosy place to eat at, it's like a diner's. So amazing!

Demonic Designer Obsession

Amelie by shi0ri

I do not understanddddddd...

  • Mood:  Disgust

How come designer pieces are so damn expensive??? A Burberry Prorsum pencil skirt is selling for US$908.
How much of that value is in the actual material? And how much is attributed to the creativity of the designer? And then finally, to the brand? I highly doubt the material takes up that much of the cost. So then is creativity really that expensive or are we just paying for a stupid name?

I admire brands, the attention to detail is immaculate, definitely stands out from the normal high street pieces... but then there are also some really basic designer pieces like a god damn white shirt selling for a few hundred dollars... seriously??!!

I will never become one of those Instagram/Blogger chics who are adorned head to toe in designer pieces. I've got better places to spend my money on, whether I'm rich or not. Diamonds, nice cars, big houses... not a skirt. That Burberry Prorsum skirt I can find a similar one, the only special detail is this one crease that goes diagonally along it. Heck I'll make it myself than spend US$908 on that sh*t. This is ridiculous!!

I am beginning to get tired of all these designer obsessions. I like them, I even love some pieces, but I'm not obsessed. Materialism is one thing, designer materialism is a totally different thing. It's senseless at this level.

ZALORA's Great Singapore Sale!!

Spring wind by agatagriphotography

Instead of walking to a beauty shop, waiting endlessly for some help, and wasting time contemplating whether to make the purchase or not, why not just do it in the comfort on your home? It's a new form of luxury!

And better yet, snatch up some bargains while you're at it, and without having to fight over it! ZALORA is joining in the Great Singapore Sale of 2014, offering amazing local and international brands at irresistible deals, slashing up to 70% from original prices!!

So what are you waiting for? Get going with online GSS shopping at ZALORA!!

While we're at it, here are some benefits to justify online shopping:

1. We can be in our underwear when shopping and no one will care, because who is there to see us? Comfort first and stress free!

2. Receiving the package in mail is the best feeling ever, it's like a Christmas present has come early. In our day and age, no one sends letters anymore, to fill the gap, there's nothing wrong with sending gifts to yourself!

3. You can do it anytime, anywhere! When you're bored, it's the best form of procrastination!

4. The shop never closes so you can shop at anytime you wish. If you can't sleep, maybe a bit late night shopping will help.

5. No annoying salespeople, you know what I'm talking about, those people who follow you around, trying to help you out. The best help they can offer is to leave you alone. Thankfully they don't exist in the online world.

6. The beauty of the search box. Looking for something specific? No need to waste time wandering aimlessly around the shop looking for the item or a person to help you. Quick and easy, just type in your search!

7. Carts are the best: Not sure whether you really want it? You can keep the item in your virtual cart until you make up your mind. No regrets!

So get on it! Shop shop shop!! Get your hands on some of those bargains at ZALORA!

Who Pays On a First Date?

look through my eyes by Rinksy
The rights of women have changed drastically over the past half
century, they have jobs and can make a living. Career-wise,
the views and standards of women have definitely changed...
but how does this compare to the views and standards of
 women in the dating field?

So women of our generation have become far more independent. They strive to be more than just someone's wife who stays at home and cooks, clean and raises the children. Women aspire to have success in their careers. Women are ambitious these days. To put it simply, for the past century, we have strived for equality among genders: What men have, we can have too. So the fact that we are now able to provide for ourselves, does that mean we no longer seek for a man that is able to provide for us? And in thinking that, does that mean the guy no longer needs to pay for everything?
Because think about it, the only reason it is custom for the guy to pay for everything is to signify to the girl that he is capable of providing for her and their future family together. A key element of a good husband. But roles have changed and the woman is no longer simply the housewife. So now, for our generation, if we are to go out on a date, who pays? Does the guy pay? Do they split the bill? Or does the girl pay? At first I thought the girl paying for the whole meal was a bit of a large jump from the norm of our parents, but it's happening. My friends do it. It's actually quite normal.

Dream Wedding

200th post!! How to celebrate? Let's talk about weddings again! My Dream Wedding Dress Designers post was so popular, it got so many views and is continuing to get heaps of views everyday! No girl can get tired of talking about weddings, so here's another one. I have so much fun just looking through inspirational photos!

Ok, so I had a post about dream wedding dresses, but recently I discovered a designer which inspired me to think about my dream wedding, and not the dress.

I think it's a bit obsessive to actually plan the whole wedding in your mind when you're not even engaged. I mean I basically did that, thinking about dresses I want to wear for my wedding before I had even met my boyfriend. But a wedding is a girl's fantasy. I can secretly indulge in these photos and thoughts right? My boyfriend doesn't need to know about it, I don't want to be a crazy girlfriend. There's nothing wrong with a little fantasizing.

flowerbride3

SO back to this new designer: "New Zealand based designer Kelsey Genna recently launched a gorgeous website showcasing her handcrafted bohemian wedding gowns, stories of real brides wearing her affordable designs, and profiles of inspiring people in the industry. There’s enough stunning imagery to inspire any future bride!" (HonestlyWTF)

The photos I saw from this designer made me want a bohemian inspired wedding with lots and lots of flowers, set in nature. I am never the type to want conventional things, for example having takeaway McDonald's for our one month anniversary, so the wedding is bound to be quite unconventional. I definitely don't want a wedding at the beach, I'm not very fond of the beach even though Perth's beach is amazing, but for a wedding, not the best place.

The Great Escape

Man, I really need a vacation... somewhere far away. I just want to forget everything, leave everything, and explore, get lost in beautiful places, see new things and meet new people.

That's why Korea was so perfect. I want to do it again, different city, different people.

Holiday Shopping Paradise {pt1}

So during Nov 2012 until Jan 2013, I was overseas. I loved it there, but I was glad to be home because it was just a little but too long staying in Guangzhou with no friends around. However, the shopping was really good, awesome actually! Places I went to were Seoul (Korea), Hong Kong and Guangzhou (China). When I am on holiday I am really picky with what I buy, either it has to be a really really good bargain or it has to be something I really really love, because I have previous experience with luggages, taking all my shopping back to Perth with me, and it was a nightmare. So here are photos of what I bought, part 1 though.... because the rest my dad had to bring home since it didn't fit in my mum's, little brothers or my luggage. Yes, that's how crazy I went. Crazy as in over 10 pairs of shoes crazy. All the prices are converted into AUD.

From these 4 photos:
spectacles $27
spiky bracelet $4
blue earings $0 (gift)
black&gold necklace (A)
white Chanel bracelet $3
black Chanel bracelet $3
heart-shaped watch necklace $0 (gift)
black leaves necklace $0 (gift)
aviator sunglasses $10
black watch $4
white watch $4
brown watch $4
brown wrist band $0.30
silver wrist band $0.30
black&gold Eiffel tower earings (B)
Swarovski gold earings $7.50
Union Jack Cross earings $0 (gift)
pink bracelet (C)
pearl earings $6
black bracelet (D)
statement black flower necklace $4
A+B+C+D = 17

Note: it is kind of weird that the statement necklace costed only $4 whilst the pearl earings costed $6 and the Swarovski gold earings $7.50 but the earings are actually really good quality whilst the necklace is not so much.

Dream Closest!

I said I will be back on Friday and today's only Tuesday, so that was a lie. Couldn't help sneak a break and watch E News! Was thrown back by E!'s tour of Lisa Vanderpump's (from The Real Housewives of  Beverley Hill) closet.

Wish there was a better quality photo but couldn't find one.

And so I just went on to discover more amazing closets online.

ACTUALLY:
Jasmine was in an arranged marriage and didnt want to marry someone she didn’t love
Snow White cleaned and cared for them and wasn’t sleeping with them
Pinocchio avoided lying and was actually doing all he did to save his father and become a real boy
Robin hood stole from the rich that were stealing from the poor via taxes
Tarzan was raised by fucking apes
Sleeping beauty was in a coma and only the kiss from her true love could bring her to life
Cinderella was a slave
Don’t try to use my childhood to justify you being a whore

Reblogging for the commentXD

ACTUALLY: Jasmine wasn’t in an arranged marriage.  She wasn’t engaged and she wasn’t married.  But I agree with everything else.
Love her so much!

And just something Big Bang related: http://annelise93.tumblr.com/post/33816437178

They're so funny, makes me want to have friends like them, that just go crazy and hit each other. I think I am too reserved in front of my friends for them to go really crazy in front of me and hit me. Why am I so reserved? I wish I could be like the crazy violent, rude 'me-at-home' all the time, so free, so effortless... and not care how others think of me.

Building Castles in the Sky

Such a beautiful song! From B.o.B's new album Strange Clouds. There's also another really good song featuring Taylor Swift, another really great inspirational singer, called Both of Us.

Let's Runaway: places i want to get lost in

I'm only 17, and there aren't many places I've been to in these seventeen years of life. With a passion in photography, the love for travelling just comes with the package.

Guangzhou, China, 2012 (captured by me)
The conflicting matter in this is my fear of flying. I'm not worried that the plane will crash or anything of that sort. It's just that I have really bad motion sickness. I travel to China a lot, ever since I was a baby, and I go once a year usually, (since all my relatives are over there) but this motion sickness, over the years, has developed into a slight phobia. Such that when I walk up that path towards boarding the plane, I start breathing really heavily, my vision somewhat blurs and I feel really sick, losing all taste in my mouth. It's really bad.

I used to get sick on the plane all the time, every time. It became some kind of sick game to see how many times I would, let's just say, empty my stomach out, in one single plane ride. I would take motion sickness pills but they wouldn't help because it became some kind of mental thing.

Now I'm getting better, I would still get the reaction I always have when getting onto the plane but I haven't 'emptied my stomach' in many of my plane rides now. I have learnt how to control myself. I lose my appetite and feel sick so I just eat. I eat and eat and eat until my mouth has taste again and it helps me regain my appetite and avoid 'emptying' anything out.

These days I usually make my parents take the transfer planes with me, the ones that stop for a few hours at a different city before we board again so I can have a break. E.g. stopping at Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia. It also allows us to explore the airport and look out at the city. Sometimes we even make it a holiday stop where we spend a few days before continuing our way to China.

But it's bad, the plane trips are only 6 hours long, the longest. I used to take the 8 hour ones directly to Hong Kong but they were the times when I would get sick. I really hope this will continue to improve each time I go on the plane. 6 hours improves to 8 hours. 8 hours improves to 12 and soon I can travel wherever I want... I really hope!

It sucks that Australia is so separate from all the other wonderful countries. If this comes true, and I become capable of travelling for long hours (how my choices would widen!) I would LOVE to go to these countries:
  • France
  • UK
  • Italy
  • USA
  • Greece
  • Croatia
  • Canada
  • Russia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • Ireland
  • Scotland
  • South Africa
  • Austria
  • Germany
  • The Netherlands
  • Mexico
  • Turkey

  • Romania

(Other Cities: Dubai)

(this doesn't include places like Indonesia, Korea and Japan which are places I am capable of going in my current state anyway. I really hope to go to these places in a few years time.)

I've realised I have many readers from all over the world. It really amazes me that my words are being read from places I could only dream of. One day I hope to visit your country!
